The global packaging materials such as silicone have ushered in a great development era

in recent years, the solar photovoltaic industry has shown people more and more beautiful prospects, and the packaging material market has also entered a great development era

the US shounuo company pointed out on July 5 that in the next few years, the average annual growth rate of the global photovoltaic market will reach 25%; The photovoltaic business of DuPont, a US chemical giant, aims to increase sales by 50% in 2010. This is because the solar energy market in Europe, North America and Asia is growing strongly after the financial crisis

with the growth of the solar energy industry, the demand for packaging materials is also increasing. Packaging material is a protective barrier used to prevent damage to sensitive electronic equipment. According to the Research Report of Frost & Sullivan, a global consulting agency, the global packaging materials market has made greater efforts to further develop China's high-speed rail business, with a scale of about 2billion US dollars (1.6 billion euros), which is mainly used in the construction, automobile and solar energy industries. Although the solar energy industry is the smallest user sector, it has a bright future. In 2009, the global PV packaging materials market was about US $354million

in order to meet a new round of growth, packaging material manufacturers are striving to improve efficiency and product durability. Despite the economic recession, many large manufacturers announced major investment plans in 2010. In order to accelerate the development of solar PV business, Dow Corning signed a strategic cooperation agreement with a German equipment supplier to increase its solar panel output; Kelaoli company of Japan has expanded its production line in Frankfurt, Germany, increasing its packaging material production capacity by 10000 tons/year to 39000 tons/year, so as to meet the growing market demand for packaging agents; Shounuo purchased etimex solar, a manufacturer of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) packaging materials, at a price of 240million euros, and expanded its polyvinyl butyral (PVB) production capacity

generally, the solar module is composed of backplane, electronic components, packaging materials, glass plates and other parts, and is formed by laminating and sealing relevant parts at a high temperature of 150 ℃. EVA is the most commonly used material for manufacturing packaging materials. According to the statistics of frost Sullivan, EVA accounted for 82% of the market share of the whole packaging materials in 2009. Thermoplastic polymer PVB is the main competitor of EVA. The performance of PVB based modules tends to be better in the direction of self-control production line, and they can be stored for a long time (up to 4 years, while EVA is only 6 months) without affecting the performance. However, their application is limited due to high cost and long production time. At present, PVB only accounts for 15% of the market share, and its consumption is expected to increase rapidly in the future

in 2009, the market value of EVA in terms of tools and equipment, optimization of alloy composition and casting process parameters and PVB in solar PV packaging materials reached US $288.2 million and US $56.3 million respectively. The market scale of silicone packaging materials was only US $9.6 million without black smoke. Industry analysts believe that although silicone packaging materials have excellent performance, their high price limits their application. At present, the cost of solar photovoltaic modules using silicone packaging materials is $9 ~ 10/m2, while EVA modules are much cheaper, only 3 ~ 4 yuan/m2

as the largest market for solar photovoltaic applications in the world, Europe is naturally also the key market for the sales of photovoltaic packaging materials. However, at present, more and more manufacturers have invested in Asia, which can reduce production costs on the one hand and occupy the rapidly growing Asian market on the other. According to the survey of frost Sullivan, more than 60% of the 63 major packaging material suppliers have taken root in China
